![]() ![]() Students wishing to take the placement exam to get into English 101 without an ACT or SAT score need to complete the English self-placement exam prior to New Student Enrollment. See the math placement table that shows entry level course options using the ACT and SAT mathematics score and high school course work for placement. To schedule a placement test, please ph one the mathematics office (308 - 865 - 8531) or if you have access to Canvas take the online exam. The sc ore is recorded and it may not be taken twice. We recommend reading about what to expect ahead of time and taking at least one practice test available in your section of MAP in Blackboard. Students who do not meet the appropriate placement test scores to enter their curriculum will. MAP Practice Tests The MAP is timed, and once you start, you cannot pause the test or start over. We recommend that eligible students take the placement test before their second term at UNK. Appropriate testing may be required prior to taking math courses. ![]() The placement test does not provide credit by examination. The National Mathematics Advisory Panel recently found that algebraic manipulation, fractions, and problem solving are the three most important mathematical skills needed to develop the mathematical and technological understandings needed for the 21st century. The placement test determines the appropriate entry level mathematics course. We do not use any other test for placement. Mathematics placement is done with either the ACT mathematics score, SAT mathematics score, or with the UNK Mathematics placement test. The Testing Center administers math, chemistry, quantitative reasoning (QR) and foreign language placement exams. Students wishing to be placed in a higher level Spanish course may take the Spanish Placement Exam prior to attending NSE. Qualification through the Math Placement Test or through a grade of C or better in MATH 111 or 111I. ![]()
